Thank You, Mr. President!
Autism research will get continued Federal support for the next 3 years now that President Obama signed legislati
on renewing the landmark Combating Autism Act. This legislation had much support but nearly didn’t make it out of the Senate. Passing the House with a bit of controversy from some Republicans who had budgetary concerns, it was approved by the Senate just days ago, allowing for nearly $700 million over three years devoted to autism research, its cause(s), and early intervention and treatments. President Obama signed the bill into law today in the Oval Office sending a message of hope to millions of families and individuals affected by autism which is nearly 1.5 million people in this country (67 million in the world).
